Sultan Al Otaibi appointed as CEO at Dur Hospitality

The Board of Directors at Dur Hospitality announced the appointment of Mr. Sultan bin Badr Al Otaibi as the Chief Executive Officer of the company effective from 1st of July 2019, succeeding Dr. Badr bin Hamoud Al Badr who submitted his resignation to the board earlier in April.

The new appointment comes as a continuation of Dur’s long-standing investment in outstanding Saudi expertise, where Al Otaibi boasts a rich career of almost two decades at Dur, where he held various managerial and operational roles and served in leadership positions, with the most recent being Vice President of Property and Assets.

Commending the new appointment, the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Dur Hospitality Mr. Abdullah Al Issa stated that Al Otaibi will lead the next phase of the company’s ambitious journey towards prosperity. He added that the company is moving steadily towards further growth and is supported by Vision 2030 which gives major importance to the Kingdom’s hospitality sector through various initiatives.

Mr. Al Issa also thanked Dr. Badr bin Hamoud Al Badr for his extensive contributions and numerous achievements during his time as CEO at Dur, which played a major role in enhancing the Dur brand and its prominent position within the industry.

On his end, Mr. Sultan Al Otaibi expressed his gratitude and pleasure to the Board of Directors for their trust in handing him the responsibility to serve as CEO at Dur. He also reiterated his confidence in the company and its capabilities to continue growth and contribute towards fulfilling the objectives of the Saudi hospitality sector, achieve the aspirations of Dur and its partners, and accomplish further and continuous development.

Al Otaibi possesses an extensive academic record and holds a master’s degree in Hotel Management from the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management in association with École hôtelière de Lausanne, and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from King Fahd University. He also completed several hospitality courses at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration in USA.
